If you are new to the practice of Yoga, or wish to refresh your foundation, this is the class for you! In this 8 week course, basic yoga postures will be taught to strengthen and open the entire body with emphasis on breath work and alignment. Learn to soften, become sensitive, set your foundation and open to a larger energy. We will explore optimal alignment of the body and introduce muscular engagement and organic extension as the two primary principles in the this practice. When you have meaningful engagement balanced with skilled knowledge, creative expression through the poses happens naturally.
For students who have foundational experience in the practice of yoga. A focus on the importance of intention and connecting with a thematic focus will be explored in each class. Deeper backbends, inversions, and a variety of new asanas will be introduced. Refine your practice and build endurance while strengthening your understanding of the alignment principles in this method.
Our teachers have extensive training so as to serve students who have physical limitations or are recovering from physical injury. We use chairs, blocks, and other props to offer extra stability and support. This empowers the student and helps them to move into alignment with ease and confidence. We offer Special attention in our classes for every body, but also as specialty workshops and privates upon request.
A dynamic practice that alternates between hula hooping and yoga. A lighthearted way to expand your awareness and tone the body, heart & mind. Hooping offers deep core work and aerobic benefits that compliment the yoga practice. We have hoops for purchase or rental. You may bring your own hoop as well.
In 2013, Behnje took the Wisdom Warrior Teacher Training with her long time friend and founder of the method, Desiree Rumbaugh. She came back with an enlivened understanding of anatomy and therapeutics that support her teaching. Behnje is the first teacher to offer a Wisdom Warriors course in Michigan.
