This class is for all levels of students from beginner to advanced. The focus is on completing the first routine in this system, Tai Chi Jeung. Other areas of focus will be chi kung, standing meditation, and push hands practice. When the first and second routines are completed and memorized, you can then move on to the Tai Chi Continuing class for advanced studies.
6-7pm will be foundational meditation, followed by Chi Kung( breathing combined with movement). Then you will learn the routine of the 8 basic stances. Once these exercises are memorized accurately beginners will proceed to learning the Tai Chi Palm form. 7-8pm will be push hands, forms practice. Advanced Practitioners come at 6pm to warm up with the beginning class.
I'd gone through physical therapy but needed more, so started with Rick on Tai Chi years ago now. I saw an older gent no longer need his walker as his balance returned, saw novices become graceful and strong (no longer shaking or falling out of positions), and gradually realized this patience inducing, flexibility building, and health enhancing Tai Chi thing was special. I admit I do it if I get a cold because I know I will feel better, I do it when I am tired because I know I will get energized, I do it because it just does something good.”
