Anusara Yoga

Anusara Yoga™ is a school of hatha yoga with an elegant set of alignment principles, life affirming tantric philosophy, and heart oriented community. Anusara Yoga integrates three key areas of practice: attitude, alignment and action. It is an all-inclusive yoga in which each student’s various abilities and limitations are deeply respected and honored. From the Heart is West Michigan’s only dedicated Anusara Yoga center.

Therapeutic Yoga

 A class to support students whom are working with physical limitations . Build stamina and understanding of basic poses and sequences and in this way gain confidence in your practice .You will also explore modifications of poses, restoratives , and ease into the practice of Yoga .Students will receive cues to apply therapeutically in class and on thier own. This will empower the student to get acquainted with the body and it's strength in a new way.

Level 1

New students and beginners. Soften, become sensitive , set your foundation and open to a larger energy, have meaningful engagement with skill, and creative expression through asana happens naturally. These are the primary principles in Anusara Yoga : Flow with Nature, Muscular Energy and Organic Energy. Basic yoga postures will be taught with emphasis on breath work, Strengthening and opening the entire body through a variety of basic poses.

Level 2

For continuing students who have completed Level 1. Backbends and inversions will be introduced. The emphasis will be to refine your practice and build endurance while strengthening your inner understanding of the Universal Principles of Alignment™.

Level 2-3

Deepening your practice, this class is for those who are looking for a transition to level 3. We will focus on moving courageously into unassisted, opening and strengthening postures. In doing this, one develops a deep sense of empowerment and contentment.

Level 3

For Intermediate / Advanced students who would like to take their practice to the next level. More challenging poses will be introduced and playfully explored to the fullest. Must be able to kick up into handstands at the wall, and do backbends unassisted.

Radiant Power

This guided practice is a great opportunity to deepen our understanding of Anusara Yoga’s life affirming philosophy through Creative themes and a Rocking Asana Practice!!! A strong working knowledge of the Universal Principles of Alignment™ and the ability to do full Backbend & Inversions at the wall required.

Pre-Natal Yoga

A gentle yoga with an emphasis on breathing, preparing and opening the body. Restorative for new mothers as well.

Private Instruction

This is a great opportunity for intensive focus on the most challenging areas in your practice of Yoga or Tai Chi. This is also a great way for anyone to work therapeutically with different physical challenges or injuries.

108 Hour Anusara Immersion

The 108 hour Immersion covers in detail all the basic elements of philosophy and asana alignment technique for Anusara Yoga. This program is designed to provide a good foundation of practical understanding of Anusara Yoga for all serious students, and is a requirement for those students who wish to enter into Anusara Yoga Teacher Training. After completing the Immersion, students are expected to have a solid working knowledge of all the basic principles of Anusara Yoga and be able to integrate the key elements of the teachings into their yoga practice and their daily lives.

Before entering the Immersion Anusara Yoga students should take at least 30 hours or 3 months of public classes in order to have a proper introduction to the style or 30 Anusara Yoga workshop hours with a Certified Teacher.

The Level 1 Immersion is divided into three parts. Each part is at least 36 hours in length, so the entire Level I Immersion totals at least 108 hours. At From The Heart Yoga Center, we will be offering this program in a weekend format 12 hours each weekend for 3 weekends per section, for a total of 9 weekends to complete the entire Immersion.

In General each section will cover, Philosophy, Universal Principles of Alignment (Asana), The Breath, Meditation, Contemplation, Journaling, and Anatomy. As each section of the Immersion completes we will continue to explore these main areas with greater depth and clarity.
